Why the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe makes a strong case for itself
Driving Experience
This is a BMW through and through – rear-wheel drive as standard (with xDrive available on some trims), well-weighted steering and excellent ride quality. The Gran Coupe feels agile for its size, with a sporty edge in M Sport and M Performance trims.
Engine options range from efficient 2.0-litre petrols and diesels to the powerful 430i, 440i, and more recently the M440i xDrive mild hybrid – offering near-M4 levels of performance. It’s a car that’s fun when you want it to be, yet smooth and composed when you’re cruising.
Interior and Comfort
Inside, the 4 Series Gran Coupe shares its high-quality cabin with the 3 and 4 Series line-up. Expect premium materials, a clean dashboard layout and supportive seats that make every journey feel refined.
What sets the Gran Coupe apart is its extra practicality. With four frameless doors and a wide-opening hatchback-style boot (not a traditional saloon boot), it offers up to 470 litres of space – making it more usable than many rivals without compromising on style.
Technology
Depending on trim and year, standard and optional features include:
- BMW iDrive infotainment with sat nav
- Digital driver display or Live Cockpit Professional
- Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Parking sensors or reversing camera
- Cruise control and dual-zone climate
- Premium audio, wireless charging and gesture control (on higher trims)
- Advanced driver assist features like lane departure warning and adaptive cruise (on newer models)
Body Style and Trim Levels
The 4 Series Gran Coupe is available as a five-door fastback, offering coupe-like lines with five-seat practicality and a larger boot than the standard coupe.
Popular trims include:
- SE – Base model with LED headlights, sat nav, alloy wheels and climate control
- Sport – Adds upgraded trim, larger alloys, and sportier interior details
- M Sport – Lowered suspension, M body kit, 18-inch or 19-inch wheels, sports seats and upgraded infotainment
- M440i xDrive – High-performance M Performance variant with 374hp, all-wheel drive, and sports styling inside and out
Later models (post-2021) feature the updated front grille design, sharper LED lighting and enhanced in-cabin tech.

FAQs
Even if the car is in a zero road tax band, you still need to register it as taxed each year. The process is the same, but you won’t be charged anything. So you’ll need to go online or to the Post Office and 'tax' it (it will show a £0 fee). It’s important to do that so the car is officially recorded as taxed.
Our technicians are highly qualified and experienced. They are trained professionals who specialise in inspecting and preparing used cars to a high standard. Every car undergoes a rigorous inspection by our technicians, who have lots of experience in the motor trade. In short, you can trust that knowledgeable, certified mechanics have checked over and serviced your car before sale.
No, we don’t offer GAP insurance. You would need to arrange GAP insurance separately if you want it.
Yes. We we partner with HiQ to provide servicing, so you can absolutely book your car in with us for routine servicing. Just visit our Carsa Service website or call the service centre, and you can schedule a service appointment at a location that’s convenient for you. We’ll be happy to continue taking care of your car’s maintenance.
The V5C logbook is sent to you by the DVLA after purchase. It usually takes a few weeks; typically you can expect it within up to 6-12 weeks by mail.
We’ll provide the service history documents to you when you get the car. If it’s digital, we’ll give you a printout or email, and if the car has a service booklet, that will be in the car’s documents pack. Essentially, at the point of handover (collection or delivery), we’ll hand you any service records or tell you how to access them. So you’ll have the history in hand right away.
It depends on the car’s recommended schedule. Typically, cars should be serviced once a year or roughly every 10,000-12,000 miles (whichever comes first). If we’ve just serviced the car before delivery, your next service would likely be due in about a year from that service date. We’ll let you know the last service date and any upcoming due dates when you purchase the car.
If the car just had an MOT done as part of our prep, then your next MOT is due one year from that date. If it’s a nearly-new car under 3 years old that hasn’t needed an MOT yet, then its first MOT will be due when it turns 3 years old. We’ll let you know the MOT status and date when you buy the car, so you’ll know when to plan for the next one.
