Vehicle Sale
TERMS
- Carsa Ltd (“Carsa”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates www.carsa.co.uk and our branches (the “Site”). We are registered in England and Wales under company number 12805624 and have our registered office at Unit 7 Barton Park, Chicken Hall Lane, Eastleigh, SO50 6RR. Our VAT number is 356789439.
- You are the customer ("you" or “your") who places a booking to sell your car on the Site or in Branch(es).
CONTRACT
- The details of your sale are set out in your booking, confirmed on the Site (your "Booking"), including your personal details as the seller, the make, model, registration, valuation price, pick up or drop off time and location for the car that you are selling to us (the “Car").
- You may only place a Booking if you are selling the Car to us as a consumer. If we suspect you are selling the Car to us in a business capacity, then we may cancel your Booking.
- A contract (comprising your Booking and these terms and conditions ("Terms")) is formed between you and us when you complete a booking on the Site and we accept your Booking (the “Contract”).
- If we accept your Booking, we will send you an email confirmation of your Booking. Acceptance is subject to our inspection of your Car and the completion of our car history checks.
- Members of our team have the right to work in a safe and respectful environment. If we consider that you are behaving in a manner that is abusive, threatening, offensive or disrespectful to any of our staff, we may terminate the Contract immediately.
- If there is any conflict, inconsistency, or ambiguity between your Booking and these Terms, your Booking will take precedence.
- We may change these Terms by updating the version available on the Site (for example, for legal, economic, or other business reasons).

VEHICLE VALUATION
All vehicle valuations provided through our online platform are estimates based on the information submitted by the customer, including vehicle condition, mileage, and service history. This valuation is not a guaranteed offer.
The final offer may change at the point of handover following a physical inspection and test drive. Adjustments may be made in scenarios listed below.
- if any additional cosmetic or mechanical defects are found
- if the service history differs from what was initially declared
- if the mileage has increased by more than 500 miles from the time of valuation.
We reserve the right to withdraw the offer based on the results of the final assessment, in scenarios listed below
- the Car does not match the description (whether as to specification or condition) you gave; or
- there is a discrepancy in the recorded mileage, legal registration, or chassis number of the Car; or
- the Car has been in a major accident or is categorised as insurance category A, B, N or S, or has been subject to a total loss claim; or
- we identify any other issue in a car history check on the Car; or
- you do not have the right to sell the car (for example, because you are not the registered keeper); or
- the Car’s V5 registration document is missing, incomplete, non compliant or not in your name; or
- the Car is subject to any third-party rights (for example, because it has a finance marker on it which hasn’t been declared at the order stage); or
- the Car is an imported vehicle, has been exported or was not first registered in the UK; or
- the Car has been used for taxi, private hire, chauffeur, or rental purposes, driving tuition, commercial use, as a police vehicle or used by a local authority; or
- the Car does not have a valid MOT (which is valid for at least 14 days after the date of your handover); or
- the Car’s tyres are not road legal; or
- the Car has any significant mechanical or electrical fault (including problems with steering, transmission, clutch, gearbox, suspension, or brakes); or
- any other reason deemed appropriate at the discretion of management.
Each Online Valuation is valid for 7 days after the date of issue and will expire at 23:59 on the 7th day. If an Online Valuation expires and you still want to sell your Car to us, you must get a new Online Valuation on our Site.
VEHICLE HANDOVER
Drop off will take place on the date and time set out in your Booking (“Drop Off”) unless we tell you otherwise. Your car will only be available to Drop Off at the Centre specified in your Booking.
When you drop off the Car, you must show your V5 registration document along with your photographic UK driving license. Only you (the registered keeper) are eligible to drop off the car. We require a valid proof of address (utility bill, bank statement) dated within the last 3 months for verification. The address on these documents must all match the address on your V5 and Order.
We may refuse to allow you to drop off the Car if
- You don’t provide this identification when we ask.
- Any documentation doesn’t meet our guidelines outlined above.
- If you cannot make your scheduled Drop Off time, you must contact Customer Support by phone on 0300 303 4794 or the handover branch.
When you hand over the Car to us, you must give us:
- all sets of keys to the Car whether fully functioning or not;
- the valid V5 registration documentation (which must be red);
- as applicable, any associated documentation (including any service books, service invoices and handbooks) for the Car;
- and any extras that a new owner might need (for example, the locking wheel nut for the alloy wheels and any security codes associated with the Car).
If you don’t provide these items, we may not proceed with the purchase of the Car from you.
On completion, you must confirm the sale of your Car to the Carsa Handover Specialist by signing our receipt to confirm that you have dropped off the Car and that you agree with the final valuation.
- You authorise us to transfer the Car’s registered keeper from you to Carsa using the Car’s V5 documentation.
- Title to the Car transfers to us on final receipt (as applicable). After this time, you no longer own the Car and we will not be able to return the Car to you.
- Until Handover happens, you are responsible for registering and paying for all vehicle tax and for all charges, fines, tolls, civil penalties and similar costs relating to the Car (including charges and civil penalties relating to parking, fines and fixed penalties for motoring offences, clamping release fees, towing fees, impound charges, toll road charges and penalties, congestion charges and other environmental charges) and any taxes or court costs related to them (together “Fines”). You must pay any Fines incurred before Handover promptly.
- You agree to reimburse us in full and on request for any costs we incur in processing or disputing any Fines relating to the period before handover. We may charge you an administration fee of £20 for each Fine we process relating to the period before handover (as applicable). We may withhold an amount for any Fines or related administration fees from the amount we pay you for the Car.
BANK ACCOUNTS & PAYMENT
Once the Contract has been made and we are in possession of the Car, we will pay you the final valuation payment balance for the Car, less the amount of any transaction fee, by electronic transfer to the bank account linked during checkout.
We aim to process payments within an hour, however some cases may take up to 24 hours depending on your bank. There may be circumstances beyond our control that result in delays. In such cases, we will not be liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by the delay.
OUTSTANDING FINANCE
If your vehicle is subject to an outstanding finance agreement, you must provide a valid settlement letter issued by the finance provider. The settlement letter must be dated within the last 7 days and clearly state the full settlement amount required to discharge the finance agreement.
Verification of Settlement Balance
All settlement figures will be independently verified with the finance provider. We reserve the right to delay or decline the purchase of your vehicle until the settlement balance has been confirmed.
Restriction on Purchase
We are unable to purchase your vehicle if the outstanding finance balance exceeds the agreed valuation. In such cases, the transaction cannot proceed.
CANCELLATION
You can cancel your appointment with us at any point before the handover slot by contacting Carsa Handover at handover@carsa.co.uk or on 0300 303 4794.
CUSTOMERS LIABILITY
You will cover our full costs and losses, including reasonable legal fees, if: (i) you break these Terms; or (ii) you violate someone else's rights.
PERSONAL DATA
You can find out how we use your personal data in our Privacy Policy.
