Why the BMW M2 is a modern performance icon

Driving Experience

The M2 delivers a pure, engaging drive – the kind BMW built its reputation on. Earlier models (F87 generation) are powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six engine pushing out up to 410hp in Competition versions. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a slick 6-speed manual or a rapid-fire 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The result? A compact coupe that feels alive in your hands – agile in the corners, planted on the straights, and endlessly rewarding to push hard. The newer G87 M2 takes things even further with more power, modern tech and optional xDrive.

Interior and Comfort

Step inside the M2 and you’re met with a driver-focused cockpit. Supportive M Sport seats, contrast stitching, metal pedals and M-specific trim make it feel sporty yet refined. You get dual-zone climate control, premium materials and plenty of tech, with enough space for daily use.

Despite its performance edge, the M2 is surprisingly comfortable on long journeys, with a decent boot and rear seats that are useable in short bursts – or great for extra kit.

Technology

The BMW M2 doesn’t skimp on tech. Depending on the model, you’ll find a digital instrument cluster, iDrive infotainment with a touchscreen or rotary controller, Bluetooth, DAB radio and sat nav.

Higher trims or newer models also include Apple CarPlay, parking sensors, Harman Kardon sound, adaptive lights and a reversing camera. The M2 may be focused on driving thrills, but it’s still a modern, connected performance car.

Body Style and Trim Levels

The BMW M2 is a two-door coupe with muscular styling, wide arches, flared sills, and quad exhausts. It’s compact, aggressive and unmistakably M.

Key variants include:

  • BMW M2 (F87) – Original version with 370hp, available with manual or DCT gearbox. Known for its raw, playful character.
  • BMW M2 Competition – Updated version with 410hp, enhanced suspension, M mirrors, and sharper handling.
  • BMW M2 CS – Limited-run, track-ready model with 450hp, carbon fibre panels and a more focused setup.
  • BMW M2 (G87) – Latest generation with bold styling, modern tech and even more power. Manual and xDrive options available.

Whichever version you go for, the M2 delivers performance that punches well above its size.

Why choose a used BMW M2 for sale on finance?

A used BMW M2 for sale on finance gives you access to one of the most exciting modern sports cars on the road – at a much more accessible price. Thanks to strong residual values and a loyal enthusiast following, the M2 remains a great investment for performance-minded buyers.

Compared to rivals like the Audi RS 3, Porsche Cayman or Alpine A110, the M2 stands out with its rear-wheel-drive purity, iconic engine and engaging personality. It’s a car that rewards confident driving and looks just as good parked up as it does carving through corners.

For anyone who values the thrill of driving, the BMW M2 is the real deal. And with flexible finance options from Carsa, getting behind the wheel has never been easier.

FAQs

My car tax is free, do I need to do anything?

Even if the car is in a zero road tax band, you still need to register it as taxed each year. The process is the same, but you won’t be charged anything. So you’ll need to go online or to the Post Office and 'tax' it (it will show a £0 fee). It’s important to do that so the car is officially recorded as taxed.

How experienced and qualified are Carsa’s technicians?

Our technicians are highly qualified and experienced. They are trained professionals who specialise in inspecting and preparing used cars to a high standard. Every car undergoes a rigorous inspection by our technicians, who have lots of experience in the motor trade. In short, you can trust that knowledgeable, certified mechanics have checked over and serviced your car before sale.

Does Carsa offer GAP insurance?

No, we don’t offer GAP insurance. You would need to arrange GAP insurance separately if you want it.

Can I book a service through Carsa?

Yes. We we partner with HiQ to provide servicing, so you can absolutely book your car in with us for routine servicing. Just visit our Carsa Service website or call the service centre, and you can schedule a service appointment at a location that’s convenient for you. We’ll be happy to continue taking care of your car’s maintenance.

When will I receive the V5 logbook for my Carsa car?

The V5C logbook is sent to you by the DVLA after purchase. It usually takes a few weeks; typically you can expect it within up to 6-12 weeks by mail.

How and when will I receive my car’s service history?

We’ll provide the service history documents to you when you get the car. If it’s digital, we’ll give you a printout or email, and if the car has a service booklet, that will be in the car’s documents pack. Essentially, at the point of handover (collection or delivery), we’ll hand you any service records or tell you how to access them. So you’ll have the history in hand right away.

When will my next service be due?

It depends on the car’s recommended schedule. Typically, cars should be serviced once a year or roughly every 10,000-12,000 miles (whichever comes first). If we’ve just serviced the car before delivery, your next service would likely be due in about a year from that service date. We’ll let you know the last service date and any upcoming due dates when you purchase the car.

When will my next MOT be due?

If the car just had an MOT done as part of our prep, then your next MOT is due one year from that date. If it’s a nearly-new car under 3 years old that hasn’t needed an MOT yet, then its first MOT will be due when it turns 3 years old. We’ll let you know the MOT status and date when you buy the car, so you’ll know when to plan for the next one.
