How the EV battery contribution works.
If your main vehicle battery suddenly fails, the warranty contributes up to £1,000 towards a replacement. This is a meaningful chunk of the cost — battery replacements run into the thousands.
Choose your term
Pick the length that fits
how long you're keeping the car.
Three options, one-off price, no monthly billing. Cover starts the day you take delivery (or set a future start date if you still have manufacturer warranty — many EVs have longer battery cover from the maker).
This is not an insurance product and is not regulated by the FCA. Claims handled by AutoProtect — pre-approval required before any repairs begin. Wear & tear covered on vehicles under 6 years old and 60,000 miles at time of claim. Battery degradation (gradual range loss) is not covered. Non-refundable once cover commences. Servicing must be maintained to manufacturer schedule.

Common questions
The bits worth knowing.
Honest answers to the questions Carsa EV customers ask most often about the extended warranty.
No. Gradual capacity loss as your battery ages is normal EV behaviour and is not covered. The warranty contributes up to £1,000 towards a replacement only if the battery suddenly fails. Worth understanding upfront — it's the most important EV warranty distinction.
If the replacement battery has a greater capacity than your original at the time of claim, you may need to contribute towards the difference. This is called "betterment" — the warranty covers replacement to the same level, not an upgrade.
No. This is a Mechanical Failure Warranty for electric vehicles — it's not an insurance product and is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. It's optional and covers the cost of repairing covered components if they suddenly fail.
Every car Carsa sells comes with a free 90-day warranty with a £500 claim limit — included at no cost. The extended EV warranty above is on top of that, with a higher £5,000 per-claim limit, a much longer term, and EV-specific coverage.
Many EVs come with longer manufacturer battery warranties (often 8 years) — but the drivetrain and electrical components may not be covered for as long. That's typically where the gap is. You can set this extended warranty to start on a future date so you're not paying for overlap.
The onboard charger inside your car is covered. External charging cables and charging units (home chargers, public chargers) are not. Damage caused by using non-manufacturer-approved charging equipment is also not covered.
Wear-and-tear failures are covered as long as your car is under 6 years old AND under 60,000 miles at the time of claim. Once the car crosses either threshold, only sudden mechanical breakdowns are covered — wear-related failures stop.
You can remove the warranty before you take delivery — no problem. Once cover starts, the warranty is non-refundable. Worth thinking carefully about which term suits you.
The warranty is transferable to a private buyer for a £25 administration fee — which can add real value to your EV when it comes time to sell.
Yes — the car must be serviced in line with the manufacturer's schedule (or every 12 months / 12,000 miles if there's no service history). There's a 21-day / 750-mile grace period if you can't service exactly on time — just notify AutoProtect.
Add it at handover. Keep it optional.
The EV extended warranty is optional and can be removed before you take delivery. Once you drive away, the cover starts and it's non-refundable — so it's worth deciding upfront.
