Best Used Coupes — Our Top 10

What is a coupe?
A coupe is a car with a sleek, sloping roofline and a sportier silhouette than a standard saloon or hatchback. Traditionally two-door, the coupe body style has evolved — many manufacturers now use the name for four- and five-door models with a distinctive swept roofline and lower stance. What they all share is an emphasis on style and driving character over pure practicality.
Coupes sit in an appealing sweet spot: they look sharper than most family cars, offer genuine driver appeal, and on the used market can represent outstanding value for money. Whether you want a weekend indulgence or simply something with more personality than the average saloon, a used coupe is worth serious consideration.
Why buy a used coupe?
The case for buying used is strong. Coupes, particularly premium German models, can lose a significant proportion of their new car value in the first two to three years. That means a well-kept, low-mileage example from 2021 or 2022 can be yours for considerably less than it cost when new — with the best of its useful life still ahead of it.
At Carsa, we've looked at our own coupe inventory data to identify the models that are most in demand across our UK stores. Here's what we found — to give you a sense of what UK buyers are actually choosing.
The most popular used coupes
1. Audi A5 / A5 Sportback

The Audi A5 is one of the most consistently popular coupes on the used market — and for good reason. Available as a sleek two-door Coupe and the more practical five-door Sportback, it offers one of the best interior quality propositions in its class, a refined drive, and Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive on many variants.
Available in our stock across both Coupe and Sportback body styles, the A5 suits a wide range of buyers. The Sportback is the practical choice for those needing rear seat access, while the Coupe delivers purer styling. Engine options range from frugal 2.0-litre TDI diesels to powerful S5 variants for those who want real performance.
2. BMW 4 Series

The BMW 4 Series is the natural benchmark for premium two-door coupes. The current generation brought a bold new design with a wide kidney grille, and has found a strong following on the used market. It's a beautifully engineered car with a wide engine range: efficient 420d diesels, punchy 430i petrols, and the rapid M440i xDrive for genuine performance credentials.
One of the most popular coupes across our stores, the 4 Series has rear-wheel drive on most variants, a well-crafted interior, and — as a used buy — delivers exceptional value compared to its new car price. xDrive all-wheel drive is available on certain models for all-weather peace of mind.
3. Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe is one of the most elegant two-door cars on the used market. It takes the comfort, refinement, and quality of the C-Class saloon and wraps it in a sleeker, more glamorous body — without sacrificing too much practicality. There's room for four adults, a decent boot, and that unmistakable Mercedes cabin quality.
The C-Class Coupe is one of the most consistently available models across our stores — with engine options spanning from efficient C220d diesels to the spectacular C43 AMG with its 390bhp V6. AMG Line specification adds sporty styling and is the most popular trim choice on the used market. A genuinely well-rounded used buy.
4. BMW 2 Series Coupe

The BMW 2 Series Coupe is the smallest two-door in BMW's coupe lineup — and in many ways the most driver-focused. Crucially, it retained rear-wheel drive when rivals moved to front-wheel drive layouts, giving it a handling character that enthusiast buyers rate highly. The M240i xDrive variant pushes out 374bhp and is one of the most entertaining fast coupes at this price point.
Entry-level 218i models offer an affordable entry into BMW coupe ownership, while the M240i delivers performance that embarrasses much more expensive rivals. All versions benefit from BMW's clear, intuitive infotainment and a well-constructed interior that has aged very well on the used market.
5. BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe

The BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe gives you the style of the 4 Series in a five-door body that's genuinely practical for family use. Often described as the best of both worlds, it's a handsome car that doesn't compromise rear passenger access or boot space. It competes directly with the Audi A5 Sportback, and depending on specification, can undercut it on price on the used market.
Available with BMW's efficient diesel and mild-hybrid petrol engines, plus the option of xDrive all-wheel drive, it's a versatile proposition that suits those who want coupe style without coupe compromises. M Sport specification with the two-tone grille gives it one of the most distinctive road presences in the class.
6. Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe is a genuinely luxurious two-door grand tourer. Interior quality is outstanding, the ride is supremely comfortable, and the level of standard equipment puts many rivals to shame. If you regularly cover motorway miles and want something that makes the journey genuinely enjoyable, the E-Class Coupe belongs on your shortlist.
Available in E220d diesel, E300 petrol, and AMG Line specifications, it offers something for economy-minded and performance-focused buyers alike. The exterior has aged exceptionally well — and on the used market, well-specified examples represent remarkable value for money compared to their original retail price. Build quality is exceptional.
7. Audi TT

The Audi TT has been one of the most recognisable coupes on UK roads since its launch in 1998, and the third-generation car (2014–2023) remains a genuinely contemporary-looking machine. The interior is a particular highlight — Audi's Virtual Cockpit digital driver display replaced traditional dials entirely, creating a cockpit feel that still impresses today.
Front-wheel drive 2.0 TFSI models are the most common, with quattro available from the 45 TFSI upwards. The TTS and RS variants command a premium but represent one of the most complete sports coupes at this price point. Crucially, Audi has now discontinued the TT — meaning no new examples are entering the market, which makes well-kept used cars increasingly desirable over time.
8. BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is the practical four-door alternative to the 2 Series Coupe. Launched in 2020, it brought BMW styling and badge appeal to a more accessible, compact footprint — popular with buyers who want the BMW coupe aesthetic without the two-door compromise. The M235i xDrive variant delivers 306bhp and all-wheel drive, and is one of the most underrated performance cars at this price bracket.
The 2 Series Gran Coupe is one of the most common coupes across our stores — a testament to its value proposition: competitive pricing, strong used market availability, and the M Sport specification that most buyers gravitate towards. A genuine sleeper buy in the premium compact segment.
9. Volkswagen Scirocco

The Volkswagen Scirocco is one of the most underappreciated used buys on the market. Launched in 2008 and discontinued in 2017, it brought genuine coupe style to the Golf platform — sharing that car's mechanical excellence while delivering a more dramatic three-door body with a long, sweeping roofline. Like the Audi TT, no new examples are coming — making well-maintained cars increasingly attractive.
Engine choices include efficient TDI diesels and spirited TSI petrols. The high-performance R variant with 280bhp is the performance flagship and worth hunting out. Running costs are typically Golf-level, making the Scirocco one of the most affordable used coupes to own day-to-day. An excellent choice for the style-conscious buyer on a tighter budget.
10. BMW M2

For those who want the ultimate driving machine in coupe form, the BMW M2 is in a class of its own at this price point. Built on the 2 Series Coupe platform but with widened body panels, uprated brakes, bespoke suspension, and BMW M's twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine, the M2 Competition delivers 410bhp and an experience that rivals cars costing twice as much.
With rear-wheel drive as standard, paired with either a six-speed manual or DCT automatic, this is not a car for the faint-hearted. But for serious driving enthusiasts it represents one of the finest used buys available today. Check for full service history and confirm all fluids are up to date — looked-after examples are genuinely exceptional machines.
What to look for when buying a used coupe
Coupes attract enthusiastic owners — and while most are well maintained, a used coupe warrants careful inspection before purchase. Here's what to check:
- Service history — A full stamped service book or verified digital service record is essential, particularly for turbocharged and high-performance engines. Regular oil changes are critical to engine longevity.
- Body condition — Coupes have longer doors and lower rooflines, making them more susceptible to parking damage on the front quarter panels and doors. Check carefully for paint depth inconsistencies that might indicate previous repairs.
- Tyre condition — Performance-oriented coupes can go through tyres quickly. Check tread depth and look for uneven wear, which can point to alignment or suspension issues.
- Clutch and gearbox (manual models) — Test the clutch for slip or heaviness. A slipping clutch on a performance model is a known wear item and worth factoring into your budgeting.
- Rear seat and boot access — Two-door coupes have more limited rear seat access than four-door alternatives. If you regularly carry rear passengers, consider a Gran Coupe or Sportback variant instead.
- Finance outstanding — Always run an HPI check before buying. Confirm the car is free of outstanding finance, has no recorded write-off category, and carries no outstanding manufacturer recalls.
