Any MG4 from 2023 onwards is a strong buy, as that's when supply opened up properly and trim levels broadened. The longer-range Trophy version is particularly popular for its extra miles between charges. The hot XPower performance version is fun but overkill for daily driving.

The Volkswagen ID.3 is the obvious rival, offering a more grown-up cabin but at a noticeably higher price. The Renault Megane E-Tech has sharper styling and a quality interior, while the Cupra Born adds a sportier feel. The MG4 typically undercuts all three on price while matching them on range and driving dynamics.
