Jaguars cost more to service than mainstream brands but tend to come in slightly cheaper than BMW or Mercedes equivalents at independent specialists. Budget around £400 to £600 for a major service on a petrol or diesel F-PACE or E-PACE. The electric I-PACE is notably cheaper to maintain day-to-day, with no oil changes, cambelts or exhaust work to worry about. Tyres and brakes are the main running costs across the range.

For most UK buyers, the F-PACE is the sweet spot — it's a genuinely good-looking mid-size SUV with a premium interior and a proper drive, and used prices are far kinder than an equivalent BMW X3 or Audi Q5. If you do mostly local miles and can charge at home, the I-PACE is a brilliant left-field choice with massive depreciation working in your favour. The E-PACE suits buyers who want Jaguar style in a smaller package.

Jaguars depreciate harder than equivalent BMWs, Audis and Mercedes, which is rough news for new buyers but excellent news if you're shopping used. You'll typically get noticeably more car for your money — a higher trim, newer year or lower mileage — compared with a German rival at the same price. The I-PACE has dropped especially steeply, making nearly-new electric Jaguars some of the best premium EV value on the UK market.

Look for a full service history, ideally from a Jaguar main dealer or recognised independent specialist, and check the infotainment system boots up cleanly and pairs with your phone. Test all the electric windows, seat motors and the panoramic roof if fitted. On petrol and diesel models, listen for a smooth cold start. On the I-PACE, ask to see a recent battery health check and confirm the home charging cable is included.
